Laura’s New Camera

Laura’s New Camera, originally uploaded by ~AJ.

this is amazing – check out the caption:

“Unfortunately the Fuji was “massacred” while sailing on a 45 foot Sports Yacht on the Baltic Sea; but this is it’s replacement; Dad brought back an amazing waterproof!!! camera for the scuba diver in Laura; it’s water proof for up to 5 meters (16 feet!!) without any extra cases or anything at all; it’s also 1.5 meters shockproof; and dust/sand proof (perfect for Laura who drops things all the time!); the perfect scuba/snorkeling/dog/kayaking/white water rafting/camping/canoeing camera; fits into our lifestyle perfectly!! It is absolutely amazing, unfortunately it’s only available in Europe; but it is absolutely amazing. We tried it out in Dad’s pool today and it actually has a speaker that tells you how deep you are going; all this, and 7.1 megapixels, AND video function; and 25 other settings for things like fireworks, candle photos, sports, indoor, outdoor, portrait, macro, frames, underwater, panoramic, and everything else you could ever think of….it’s absolutely incredible…never seen anything like it in this tiny size in Canada..”

Revelations and Thirst for Knowledge

I’ve neglected this blog again. i think i’ll always be guilty of it. I’ve started walking home from work now and i have all these wonderful ideas to blog about but when i get home…they’re gone and i’m back to the routine of taking the dog out and spending time with her, cooking dinner or watching Ellen. I spend all day on a computer and sometimes the prospect of working on one in the evening is none too inviting. So in a break at work, i’ll write it now, before i get busy with something else, and before i lose the drive to share words again.

I’ve now been at the War Amps for six months now. Still loving my job and the people i work with. I’m so lucky to love my job as i know many people don’t. I’ve now been here longer than i was at Beddingtons, although i feel like i was there much longer than that. weird how that happens.

REVELATIONS

LuLuLemon Bag

As i walked home the other night, i thought about how far i have come in the past year. Finishing school and starting to work in the real world. The gadgets i want are getting more expensive, including a digital SLR, flat screen tv and eventually, a house. i keep thinking of things in terms of “investments” now. how an apartment isn’t an investment, but a house is. It’s quickly overflowing into the rest of my life – in clothes and soon, a digital camera. This past weekend I spent a lot of money on some sweat pants and flip flops. Growing up, i bought things that were cheap because that’s all i could afford and i would tend to not keep things very long. Now that i’m thinking in terms of investments, i realize that buy 1 pair of good quality sweat pants that will last me at least 4 years, is probably cheaper in the long run instead of buying a new pair of crappy quality ones every year. I had a conversation with a co-worker about this yesterday and it’s true. i’m no longer in a position where i have a disposable income. I have bills to pay and i have to show up to work on weekdays from 8-4. i’m a grown up now i guess and for some reason, that doesn’t scare me anymore. I keep daydreaming of the day thomas and i buy a house. Paddington will have a yard to run around in and we will have our own space and place.

A THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE

Nikon D80Recently i’ve noticed a trend in my behaviour. I get fixated on something and all of a sudden want to know absolutely everything about that subject. First it was because of Paddington, so everything Morkie, Yorkie or Maltese, then more recently i wanted to know everything i could about grooming (i now groom Paddington every day). Today, and probably for the next while, it is and will be, digital photography. As i mentioned before, my gadgets are getting pricier, and this is no exception. I want to get a Digital SLR Camera, more specifically, the Nikon D80 with the 18-200 Nikkor lens. it is the most expensive of the “budget” cameras, or those aimed at amateur photographers. I have been dreaming about getting a camera like this for years. This past week i poured through reviews and information about all of their cameras and came to the decision that this is the one for me. Hopefully i will be able to save some money to get it soon, as i cannot wait to get out there and start shooting. Today, i’ve opened about 60 or more articles to read about digital photography, and i predict that this thirst will not end anytime soon.

I love learning new things and i think now that my official educational career is over, i have more of a drive to read and absorb things than i did before when i was just trying to pass a course. This is different kind of learning, it is definitely something i want to know more about.

Spreading the Love…of Morkies!

Hair Elastic

I get really excited when someone is interested in getting a small dog because they usually fall in love with the cuteness that is Paddington.

Today i am happy to say i might have swung another to the way of the Morkie.
This makes me smile.

Music That Moves Me…

There are some songs that no matter how many times i listen to them, they still are as good as the first time i heard them. I am still loving John Mayer’s new album and 3 songs in particular cause me to hit the back button several times. These songs are:
Belief
Vultures
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room

And one more:
Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek
i will never tire of this song
I sit at work with my iPod singing songs into my ears while i’m grooving in my chair. Anyone who comes down this end probably thinks i’m nuts, but i can’t help it. it’s the good song syndrome…you can’t help but move to it.
