A Day in the Life – August 29th, 2007

So today was supposed to be uneventful as usual…but something actually happened….and not something too good.

We had quite a big thunder storm here tonight starting around 5:30. i was in a massage therapy appointment and the power went out about 4 or 5 times, which is fine. but at home, our apartment started to leak.

i called our rental company and they sent the super over. he looked at it and is going to send someone to fix it next week. he then went to check upstairs above us to see if they had leaking too. they did not, but they did come down to check to see if we were ok – the super didn’t elaborate on “leaking” so they had visions of a lot of wetness. We know them because our doggies are friends. They have a 2 yr old Shitzu named Bear. Paddington was in heaven with another dog here – she was so excited. they played around and Bear even tried to steal her loofa toy!

It’s good to have neighbours sometimes!

A Day in the Life – August 28th, 2007

Nothing exciting happened. Went to work – kept designing a newsletter. came home. worked some more – designed a business card.

that’s about it. so the pictures are boring today. Paddington was on my lap so i took pictures with Photo Booth.

A Day in the Life – August 27th, 2007

Today was back to work as it’s Monday. The day went by relatively quickly considering it was the beginning of the week.

Tonight Thomas and I went over to my friend Annelise’s place to have dinner with her and her bf Tim. On the way we almost witnessed a pretty bad car crash. i only heard the metal on metal, but three cars were involved one girl was really angry. she was yelling out swear words in the middle of the road really loudly and at the old lady she hit. Everyone involved was walking and looked to be ok, just shaken up. we didn’t stay because we didn’t really see anything, just the tail end of it and the angry girl yelling.

For dinner Tim made us some delicious fettucinni alfredo and corn on the cob. thomas and i brought dessert (we were getting the dessert when the crash happened) and we brought a really yummy cheesecake.

A Day in the Life – August 26th, 2007

I try to take Paddington to as many dog related things as i can. she’s been really good lately with us working so much so i was really glad to be able to take her to something fun this weekend

we went to a charity “Poochnic” for a local charity called BARK that rescues dogs from the Ottawa area. It was the perfect day for it, nothing like yesterday. today was sunny and much warmer than expected.

We paid our $20 to get in and got a free hot dog and drink. I entered her in two contest and we were number 11. The first contest was Musical Dogs – where the dog had to sit when the music stopped. we didn’t last very long in that one because Paddington decided she was done about a quarter of the way through. The second we participated in was an obstacle course. There were 10 of us on a team but we didn’t win. Paddington got a big cookie and a lay each time we participated.

I also got her nails clipped and bought a new red retractible leash for $1 and a ball and rope toy for 0.25. she LOVES the new leash because she has a ton more room to run around the yard with. we also got a $2 goodie bag filled with treats and an orange tennis ball with paws on it.

It was a great day and Paddington had a blast. Thomas had a deadline today and couldn’t come, so i got him to take a picture of Paddy and I when we got back.

Paddington and i are both exhausted. she’s sleeping and i’m about to hit up Quizno’s for dinner then sit on the couch for a bit!

iStockphoto

iStockphoto, originally uploaded by liz kerrison.

i’ve always wanted to sell my photos online through stock websites. i researched a bunch of them and settled on iStockphoto

i just applied tonight – it was a big long ordeal with a test and i had to upload 3 images for them to review. i won’t hear for two weeks. i’m a little worried because they don’t want any pictures of dogs or flowers and obviously i have a lot of pictures of my puppy. so we’ll see. i won’t be crushed if i don’t get in – i still have a lot to learn about photography before i consider myself a “photographer”.

keep your fingers crossed!

A Day in the Life August 25, 2007

Today was filled with work, and yet i don’t really feel like i was productive. I only got a couple of things done and distracted myself a little too much with taking pictures.

Got up early (wow!) and Thomas’ dad came over to get my old desk and Thomas’ old wardrobe that we bought replacements for a couple of weeks ago. They’re going to store them for us until we have a house and can fit it all. I cleaned and sorted through the desk drawers before they arrived.

This afternoon, both Thomas and I made sure our portfolios and resumes were up to date. After finishing those, I worked a bit on a logo that needed to be done and played with Paddington.

It’s now well after dinner and I still have some reading to do. I need to learn how to use and write templates for a CMS called Joomla

I’d better go do that now.

A Day in the Life – August 24th, 2007

i got this idea from Macaddict on flickr

i thought it was very cool so i made my own using Comic Life.

We’ve been a busy couple of weeks. both thomas and i have day jobs and then we come home and do freelance stuff. we’ve been at our desks a lot lately work and such. it makes one go a little bonkers. this weekend is going to be once again filled with work although we might go to a charity picnic on sunday which would give me an opportunity to take some pictures.

Thomas playing with the camera

Thomas playing with the camera, originally uploaded by liz kerrison.

For one of the first times ever Thomas picked up the camera and actually started shooting me! usually i’m shooting him and he’s getting annoyed. it was a little weird having the camera in my face. it gives me an understanding of how people are uncomfortable with me taking pictures of them at such close range.

Working hard or hardly working?

and here is my wonderful and awesome iMac. i got it last year. it’s 17″ (thomas has the 20″ one)

i love this computer and i love apple computers in general. i’d love to get a laptop to use to surf online while watching tv or on the couch, but that will come later.

Thomas and Paddington

Thomas and Paddington, originally uploaded by liz kerrison.

i think this just might be my favourite picture of Thomas and Paddington i’ve ever taken. he looks naturally happy which is rare when i’m shooting because he usually makes a face.

He is wearing our Canada shirt we made 2 years ago to travel Europe. on the back it says “Made in Canada”.
